HollyWoo Report: Scientology Has a Bad Day

It’s been a busy news day for HollyWoo and specifically, the Church of Scientology. It seems one of their highly prized members has not only decided to take a walk but he has written a lovely letter explaining why.

Sorry folks, it’s not John Travolta but it is the Oscar award winning director, Paul Haggis. It seems Mr. Haggis (of Crash fame) is very disappointed with the church’s official spokesman, Tommy Davis for his refusal to speak up for gay rights. You can read his letter here.

It appears Tommy not only refuses to speak up for gay rights he also refused to answer questions on ABC’s Nightline program. Here is part 3 of a 5 part series that shows Scientology’s spokeman throw off his mike and storm out of an interview.

The rest of the series is pretty informative if you are interested in the wacky world of Scientology I recommend watching it. Martin Bashir asks some good questions, such as why “e meters” have not been subjected to controlled scientific testing.

This is not the first time we have heard or seen Tommy throw a fit. Remember this audio from the St. Petersburg Times report on Scientology? Check out audio track 5. Geez Tommy, why are you so angry?

  1. Now, if only John Travolta continues to be upset with the “church”…

The Offspring was once stopped and offered an e-metre test on Hollywood Blvd. His assessment: ‘I could see the guy manipulating the dials. How does anyone fall for that shit?’ As I recall, he was about 15 when this happened.

  2. Martin Bashir did a good job here. This makes up for the poor job he did of moderating the RRS/WOTM debate. He really exposed Pseudoscientology for what it is. Act offended to avoid answering a perfectly reasonable question: the ploy of weasels and ferrets!

inre John Travolta: rumor (yes Nate, that word only has 1 u) has it that he’s becoming disenchanted with Psedoscientology. How awesome would it be if he left the “Church”?

  3. The best description I’ve scientology I’ve heard was on the BBC Radio 4 News Quiz. Host Sandy Toksvig , explaining the word Scientology, said the following; “There’s ‘Scien’ which refers to science, and ‘Ology’ which means science; and then I think they borrow the T from Bullshit.”

That pretty much put the whole religion in perspective for me.

  4. Wow, LOL. And a big old WTF for good measure.

That’s like the pope getting pissy and walking out because someone asked if he believes in the Eucharist.

That guy might have looked a little less ridiculous if he’d maybe corrected the allegedly inaccurate ideas about the thetans and the volcanoes and such.

  5. Scientology amuses me. No matter how insane beliefs you can have, that if you disguise them as a “religion” and you found with them a “new Church”, you are automatically granted with a “respect” that non-religious ideas do not receive.
