Party with the Stars

downloadAnd by stars, I mean the REAL stars. Like those ones full of hydrogen and helium and a little bit of everything else? We’ll be partying with those astronomical bodies in Atlanta once again the night before Dragon*Con. You’re invited!

The Sixth Annual Atlanta Star Party is being held at Emory University’s Math and Science Center at 7pm on August 28th. There will be good food, good drinks, good people, and plenty of astronomy! We’ll have use of the planetarium, some telescopes (if it’s clear), talks from Pamela Gay, Derek Demeter, and me, and maybe even a few “virtual astronomers.”

Tickets are $60 each, $45 for students, and you can get a discount of $5 with the code SKEPCHICK. All of the proceeds are going benefit the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and CosmoQuest. We hold this star party every year to honor the memory of Jeff Medkeff, the Blue Collar Scientist.

Oh, and there will be a silent auction full of fun and unique goodies, as well!

The Star Party is my favorite way to kick off Dragon*Con and reconnect with my Atlanta friends, so I do hope to see you there and share the lovely evening with lovely people.

  1. OMG that photo!

Sadly for me, this is the first year that I will miss the Star Party but I highly recommend you go if you can! It is a lot of fun, it’s educational and always inspiring. Plus it’s filled with great people AND it’s for a good cause.

I hope everyone has a great time!
