Obama to Name #SCOTUS Nominee Today

Update (10:42 AM ET): Reports are coming in that Obama has selected Merrick Garland, with an official announcement here in a few minutes. Activists are noting his “tough on crime” policies, in light of recent push for reform on those issues:

A little over a month after the passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, President Obama is now set to name his nomination for replacement at 11 ET. According to Reuters, Obama’s short list contains Sri Srinivasan and Merrick B. Garland. Both men are federal appellate judges.

This is sure to be a tough fight for President Obama , and the White House has launched a very pointed Twitter account this morning ahead of the nomination:

We will update the post once the nominee is announced.
