Viola Davis Makes #Emmys History

Until tonight, a woman of color had never won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama. It’s hard to believe in 2015 (unless you consider that the rest of the awards shows also have a glaring race problem), but Viola Davis broke that shameful streak and won an Emmy for her stellar work on How To Get Away With Murder. As amazing as that would be on its own, Davis’ speech was another degree of fantastic (speech begins at 2:00):
