Call For Speakers or Other Fun People and Some Help!

As some of you may know, I started a group in Los Angeles for goddless ladies that meets monthly. In fact, we now meet more than once a month because we started a book club! If you are interested in our book club, it meets the second Saturday of the month at my art studio in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. You can get invites to that and find out what books we are reading by joining our Los Angeles Women’s Atheist and Agnostic Meet-Up group. We are currently only accepting those who identify as women to the group but we often have coed events so if you identify as male, don’t feel left out, we promise to invite you to some of our shindigs!

Our regular monthly meeting is usually on the first Tuesday of the month at CFI Los Angeles. The first Tuesday was the only open night we could get there and that date has proven to be exclusionary to a lot of people who have regular jobs and kids so we are currently considering making that meeting date more fluid and sometimes at my art studio or other alternating Los Angeles locations, so more people can join us.

I have also gotten so busy with my artwork and travel (which is great and it happens every year around this time) that I am having trouble finding the time to run the group.

I am officially reaching out to the world for some help.

I need help with the following things:

1. Women who want to share in the planning and hosting of LAWAAG meetup events. I need need people to help me run the meet-up page and to help come up with fun group activities now and then, and to send out the occasional email and FB message. Pretty easy stuff.

2. Women who want to give short talks or presentations on a variety of topics to the group.
These topics can include; leaving religion, atheism, skepticism, art, poetry readings, (your own) book readings, how-to workshops and DIY workshops, feminism, activism, crafting, science, community building and other such empowering subjects. If you have an idea, pitch it to me! Speakers donate their time as our group is free to attend and I pay all the related meet-up costs, but if you are out of town and you want to visit L.A. we promise to wine and dine you and maybe find you a free place to stay. If you are in L.A. we promise to wine you and give you homemade snacks, probably made by me and be your new friends!

If you are interested in being a presenter or getting involved in the organizational side of a women’s atheist/agnostic group in Los Angeles please leave a comment below or contact me through the LAWAAG contact link. If you happen to know me, just email me!

If you would like more info or want to come to our book club meet-up this coming weekend join our meet-up page or visit our website! LAWAAG.com
