Auctions for Science: Tunic and Handmade Journal from India, Custom Cocktail
Science fiction is like a gateway drug for science. One of the reasons we hold SkepchickCon at CONvergence, a sci-fi/fantasy con, is that the audience is already interested in science in their fiction, which means many are receptive to learning more about the wonders of real-world science, critical thinking, and the intersectional issues that weave throughout. At a con for skeptics or scientists, we can all learn, discuss, and share with like-minded folks, but at a sci-fi con, we can take this a step further into education and outreach to people of all ages.
That is what you support when you donate to SkepchickCon or bid on our weekly auctions.
In this week’s auctions, we are bringing back the ever-popular custom cocktail, by Mad Art Lab mixologist Anne Sauer. Anne will customize a drink (alcoholic or non) specifically for you or as a gift for someone you love. This is your last chance at this auction. Click here to bid. Also up for auction this week are two items from India, donated by Grounded Parents and Skepchick contributor Kavin Senapathy.
One item is a handmade journal from India, with a gemstone sand painting on the cover and handmade paper. Click here to check it out and bid.
The other is an embroidered light blue silk blend tunic from India, size XL (but fits like a L). Click here to bid.

If you’d like to help out but can’t afford to donate, consider donating an item or service for auction. We also need volunteers before, during, and after the con, such as with video editing and transcribing (no need to attend the con), recording panels, helping out with science and art activities in the Skepchick Space Lab during the day, and helping with the nightly party. If you’re interested in helping out, please contact me at skepchickevents [at] gmail.com.
