Quickies: Galapagos volcano erupts, another all male panel, and cliteracy
- Galapagos volcano erupts, threatening species Darwin studied – From Amy.
- Denver ComicCon had a “Women in Comics” panel with no women on it – Thanks to everyone who shared this with us. (And congrats, you have an all male panel!)
- Cliteracy – An interactive project about, you guessed it, the clit.
- Honey bunches of lies – Eating local honey is not going to cure your pollen allergies.
- Cute Animal Friday! Check out the ears on this baby okapi.
Honey to cure pollen allergies seems to be homeopathy. Honey is made from nectar. Nectar comes from flowers. Pollen also comes from flowers. Therefore honey cures pollen allergies.
“Threatening species Darwin studied” sounds almost poetic, until you remember that noticing how the Yagán were sweltering when the crew of the Beagle were shivering was also influential on the theory of natural selection. The Yagán are also facing extinction.
The clitoris article is missing certain physicians (Remondino, Kellogg) advocating its excision, or worse.
“The clitoris has two to three times more nerve endings than the penis.”
Is that with or without foreskin? Ethnocentric assumptions lead to people looking very foolish.
