Auctions for Science: Gamergate Embroidery and Custom Cocktails

The Skepchick auctions are back! And that means SkepchickCon is right around the corner.

SkepchickCon is the science and skepticism track at CONvergence, a sci-fi/fantasy con in the Minneapolis area July 2–5, 2015. The Skepchick Network along with Freethought Blogs and other special guests host panels, interactive workshops, demos, science activities, and salons, but we do this on our own dime. We do not get a cut of the ticket sales.

That’s why we need your help to raise money for informational handouts, supplies for our science and art activities and demos, and bringing special guests to the con.

One of the ways we raise money is by auctioning off donated items and services every week from now until the big event. We’re kicking it off this week with a crafty ode to Gamergate handmade by Queereka contributor Jac as well as one of our most popular auctions every year–custom cocktails by Mad Art Lab mixologist Anne Sauer.

These auctions end Sunday, May 24, starting at 8:30 pm Eastern.

If you’d like to donate directly, scroll to the bottom of our SkepchickCon website and click the Donate button or send directly via PayPal to [email protected].

Can’t afford to donate or bid but still want to help out? Contact me at [email protected] (skepchickevents [at] gmail.com) for information on volunteer opportunities (from things you can do from the comfort of your own home to helping out at the con itself).

We also accept donations for future auctions. Have a quirky item you’re willing to part with that the Skepchick audience might like? Willing to create or donate a handmade item? Have ideas for auctions you’d like to see? Let me know in the comments or by email.

Thanks so much for your support!
