Scientist shows shameless self-promotion

Which scientist?! ME. Myself. I. Skepchick’s Official Chemist*.

What am I promoting? My nomination for a Shorty Award in Science.

What the hell are the Shorty Awards? “The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media, recognizing the people and organizations producing content on Twitter…”

Best in social media, you say? Um, yeah. According to this Huff Post Science article, I’m a “social media maven”**.

Science you say? True fact. I’m a chemist and science communicator. Besides my day job, I write about chemistry around the web. Here at Skepchick, I started Ask A Chemist. Over at GeekGirlCon, I am the Manager of the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Science Zone. Blah blah blah. Let me cut to the chance. I invented an anti-zombie cologne and saved your precious PSL. On twitter, I tweet chemistry goodness – typically with sass.

Don’t you tweet about non-science stuff? True fact. I’m WoC, intersectional feminist, and SJW (ninja level). Thus, I tweet about all teh issues. And science and scientists aren’t exempt from all teh issues. I also tweet about Idris Elba. Because Idris Elba.

I am swayed by Idris. How do I nominate you for a Shorty in science? Go HERE! NOW! Nominations close at 11:59PM EST today, February 19, 2015. You’ve got to tweet your nomination and “a tweet without a reason will not count.”. Thems the rules.

I nominated you. Thank you!
