  1. I’m not sure it’s true that vaccines prompt antigenic drift in viruses. While antibiotics can promote the rise of resistant bacteria, antibiotics are given after the fact, when the infection is established and there’s a large population of bacteria to be killed or otherwise affected by the AB, and any surviving bacteria are a sturdier strain. But vaccines prevent the viruses from causing an infection in the 1st place, so if there’s no viral replication, how can the viruses evolve?

If there are any immunologists lurking about, this point could be clarified.
