Over the past several days, thanks to the polar vortex, America has been frozen into their houses. Blind with boredom, one of us realized that if you throw boiling water into painfully cold air, it turns into steam. AND AMERICA HAD A NEW HOBBY.
So over at our sister site, Mad Art Lab, the imitable Ryan Consell made a video showing what happens with boiling water and water at other temperatures then explained why boiling water turns into steam.
But I wondered what happens when you throw boiling water into different kinds of weather. And today it’s in the mid 40s and raining. So I tried the experiment myself.
And there you have it. Some science for your Wednesday! I hope you learned at least one thing from these two videos. And hopefully that one thing was gravity.
