23 and Me and You and Ethan Hawke

It’s new video time! Even though today is Halloween, it has nothing to do with Halloween. Sorry. I’m still recovering from a weird cold thing and wasn’t actually able to plan ahead on this.

Anyway, what it is about is genetic testing, and why I’m going to spit into a vial for science. Enjoy!

Big, big thanks to everyone who is now supporting my new videos over on Patreon. It’s the end of the month, so I’m going to start dishing out the first rewards shortly after recovering from tonight’s candy overload!

  1. A bit of advice if you haven’t spit into the cup yet. Be sure to scrape the sides of your mouth with your teeth to get some cheek cells in your spit. I don’t know why they don’t tell you to do that in the instructions. I was given a few opportunities to spit into a cup and each time they couldn’t get enough genetic information from my spit. It wasn’t until after they said that they weren’t going to give me another try that someone explained to me that it wasn’t the spit that was analyzed but the cells from your mouth in your spit. I have always been bad at taking tests, but failing a spit test is a blow to my ego that I fear I may never recover from.

    1. Forgot to mention that the Alzheimer’s and BRCA test results are screened, for people who want the rest of their information but don’t want to know the results of those two tests. You have to click to access the results of those tests.
