ITALY
The Tunisian pilot who prayed out loud instead of following emergency procedures before crashing the plane, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by an Italian court. 16 people died in the crash.

Women activists are calling for a day of defiance of the ban on women driving cars on October 26th.

PAKISTAN
The country’s first gay website was shut down
by authorities for being against Islam.

 

MEXICO
Two trailers filled with aid for victims of the floods and landslides caused by hurricane Ingrid and tropical storm Manuel were rejected because they were coming from Playboy Magazine’s parent company. The authorities called it “unworthy”.

 

THE VATICAN
According to a Vatican Cardinal, Jesus Christ was the first tweeter. #WTF? #seriously? #HorribleAttemptToAppealToYoungPeople

 

FRANCE
In a move to keep religion out of schools, a “secular charter” will be displayed in every school. Students should not question teachers in the name of religious beliefs and teachers must not show their religious or political preferences. Some critics say this is an attack on Islam.

 

SPAIN
There is such a thing as a Nazi time-zone, and I live in it. It turns out that the crazy hours Spaniards keep stem from the country not using the correct time-zone. Instead, Spain has been on Berlin-time since the Hitler-admiring dictator Francisco Franco changed it in the 1940s.
