Gluten is interesting, because while some people do need to avoid gluten, no, it’s not something we all need to avoid. Just like how I’m lactose intolerant, but that doesn’t mean I have to go full-on vegan, despite what some groups say.
“Just a phase” is particularly applied to bisexuality. I think it has to do with the fact that, indeed, some self-identified straight teenage boys (and even grown men) will occasionally dabble in homosexual acts, mostly masturbation. (Oddly, this rationale supports the “just a phase” meme which supports the “no bi men” meme which is contradicted by the aforementioned homosexual acts because the human mind is fully capable of “p AND NOT p” thinking.) And now that networks use lesbianism as a way to get sweeps, you can see where this is going.
People forget that as a species, the “losers” of the food chain would be overpopulated without the “winners”. Cue massive die off from starvation and infectious disease.
Funny thing is, my sparring partner’s a transman (and kicks my butt more often than not), but I’d never heard of TERFs before Tumblr. I know it’s just regurgitating the same transphobic memes from /b/ and Reddit (e.g., “it’s a trap”), but I was surprised such a thing even existed.
Teaching the Bible as literature isn’t that difficult. I mean, it’s not that different than teaching the Iliad. But nobody (and I don’t mean Odysseus) assumes one must believe in Eris and Aphrodite to lead a discussion with high school students on Homer. So it’s not that different.
