Help Wanted!

The Skepchick Network is looking for some volunteers for various positions. All gigs at Skepchick are voluntary and provide no monetary compensation, but you will be paid in thanks and hugs and friendship! And maybe rainbows and unicorns! All positions require small time commitments that vary by position.

Skepchick Community Managers

Skepchick is looking for a few people who would be interested in volunteering to help moderate comments on Skepchick. In order to qualify, you must have proof of a good comment history on the Skepchick network (either on Skepchick’s main site or the sister sites).

If this is something you’d be interested in doing, hop on over to the Contact page and send us your info. Make sure to include the name that appears with your comments as well as your e-mail address and which site(s) you comment on.

Skepchick Events

Skepchick Events is looking for writers to blog about events of interest to skeptics, atheists, humanists, freethinkers, etc., as well as events-related information. For example, posts about starting groups, interviews with group leaders, ways to increase diversity at events, making groups and events more friendly to all ages, accessibility at events, fundraising, activism, geek event cross-over, and so forth.

No group or events experience is required as long as you can write, are a skeptic, and have an interest in learning more about events or about a particular category within events (such as family-friendly events or groups).

School of Doubt

School of Doubt is looking for writers who have a background in education at any level who would like to write about issues related to education, skepticism, and critical thinking. Contributors will be expected to post at least once every two weeks.

Teen Skepchick

Teen Skepchick is looking for writers interested in writing about science, skepticism, feminism, and/or the intersection of all of the above from a teen perspective. Double points if you are interested in helping with the Teen Skepchick podcast, triple points if you can converse competently about Doctor Who.

Mad Art Lab

Mad Art Lab is accepting submissions from artists who make art about science, secularism, geek culture, or feminism. Applicants must be able to commit to posting a minimum of once every two weeks. Must play well with others!

Esceptica

Esceptica is looking for writers from anywhere in the world who are fluent in Spanish. English-Spanish translators are also needed to help do more cross-posting.

Swedish Skepchick

Swedish Skepchick is looking for some writers who are fluent in Swedish.

Queereka

Queereka is looking for writers who identify as queer (broadly defined) who are knowledgeable about skepticism and feminism. Writers should be able to commit to posting at least once every two weeks.

Will

Will is the admin of Queereka, part of the Skepchick network. They are a cultural/medical anthropologist who works at the intersections of sex/gender, sexuality, health, and education. Their other interests include politics, science studies, popular culture, and public perceptions and understandings of anthropology.   3. Hmmm. I wonder if there are enough Skepchicks in northern Alberta to warrant events… I unfortunately have doubts.

    1. How far north? I’m in Jasper, face in palm, trying to be nice as friends advise me to avail myself of “other ways of knowing”, quote Oprah and Choprah and Tolle and have I heard of this amazing guy David Icke? The daycare has quietly become “Waldorf inspired”. Mossad is responsible for 911 and the local naturopath/homeopath is “amazing”. (I’ll say!) Am thinking of organising a vaccine info session. Maybe Dr. Rob Tarzwell or the Crommunist or someone like that would come and bolster the message from the Health Unit. A lively Q+A would be likely to follow.
