Happy Birthday to Shannon Lucid, biochemist and retired astronaut. She was born in 1943 and started working for NASA’s Astronaut Corps in 1978, which was the first year that women were admitted to the corps. I hope you have some free time this morning to slack off, because we have a bunch of good stories to keep you entertained!

  1. The comments in the conspiracy theory article are rather amusing: “These Sandy Hook truthers are totally nuts, but jet fuel could never burn hot enough to take down the twin towers. Also, the Israelis killed Kennedy. If you actually did your research you would know all this!”

    1. Imrryr,

Conspiracy theorists applying a double standard and actually applying reason, logic and evidence to all the conspiracy theories they don’t believe in? How unsurprising.

Someone should point out to whoever wrote that, that they rejecting equally valid evidence for just about every other conspiracy theory they don’t believe in.

    1. I do like that particular article and a bunch of other stuff on Cracked, but usually when I see articles by John Cheese I avoid them. His other stuff is not that great.

  2. I’ve read that Cracked article before, and I’m completely with it until the last point, about how Men built society in favour of their boners, and I want to roll my eyes and walk away.

I am really not a fan of this narrative that men did everything in history without any input or assistance from women, and that women never built anything for anyone (What were we doing the whole of recorded history anyway? Taking naps and having babies I guess. )

Although if you take that story that he told and apply it to his point, it sort of adds to it – there are men who feel like men DID build all of society all on their own, and thus us Women have come in to claim all of their hard work for our own.

  3. I have to wonder about the article on how modern men are trained to hate women.

Did this start at a certain point? Or was it secretly around for a while?

I wonder mostly because I don’t find myself relating to the list, but rather wondering just what the hell makes people think and act like that.
I suppose that article has the answers at least.

It’s just such an alien way of thinking, I can’t really understand it.

  4. I think all conspiracy theorists are a conspiracy to distract us from the fact that the conspiracy levels they suggest are impossible. :)
