$13,000 for Kids with Cancer!

Today is the day Skeptics for the Protection of Cancer Patients delivered a birthday present to Houston cancer quack Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski and the Burzynski Clinic, the promise to donate the $13,000+ raised in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the request that the clinic match those funds for St. Jude. Considering the filmmaker of the sequel to a Burzynski propaganda piece (of all people) has already contacted SPCP founder Robert Blaskiewicz’s employer in an attempt to silence him (unsuccessfully), I’m not holding my breath for the clinic to step up and for once, just once, actually do some good for cancer patients.

But if they do? Awesome. More money for genuine cancer research and more money for the kids at St. Jude, who receive care even if they can’t afford to pay for it. Novel idea, eh, Burzynski?

Thank you so, so much to everyone who donated and to everyone who spread the word. Although the amount to match has already been delivered, you can still donate to the cause. All of it will go to St. Jude.

As of this writing, you all have donated $2,220 through the Skepchick branch of this fundraiser alone. We didn’t reach the goal we set for the TF2 Skepchick Challenge, but worry not, we will have plenty more challenges in the future (and some of them are going to be freaking hilarious, so stay tuned).

And you know, I don’t even care, because that’s a lot of damn money, people. The entire amount is $13,000 more than would have gone to help kids with cancer without this fundraiser. No matter how you look at it, that fucking rocks. You. Kick. Ass.

Seriously. I love you guys.
