Skepticism

Where Have I Been?

The more pressing question, to me, is “where haven’t I been other than here?” Some updates for my Kickstarter project, A Skeptic’s Guide to Islam, after the jump.

Thanks to everyone who helped contribute towards and fund my project, I was able to attend Freedom From Religion’s annual convention in Portland, OR. While I was in the Pacific Northwest, I interviewed with the Living After Faith podcast (episode forthcoming) as well as with Ask an Atheist. I also gave a talk at an event presented by Seattle Atheists:

Later that month, I, along with several of my fellow Skepchicks, had a very skeptical Halloween in Nashville after presenting a workshop (a description of which can be found here) at CSI Con.

Most recently, I attended Skepticon. There, I was able to meet with Kurt of Pitchstone Publishing, the company with whom I have my contract, in person for the very first time, along with others who are awesome but far less relevant to the Guide.

My plans for the immediate future include publishing more regularly here again, speaking at Eschaton in Ottawa, finishing up my manuscript, and anticipating the upcoming year after an exhilarating and full fall conference schedule.

Heina Dadabhoy [hee-na dad-uh-boy] spent her childhood as a practicing Muslim who never in her right mind would have believed that she would grow up to be an atheist feminist secular humanist, or, in other words, a Skepchick. She has been an active participant in atheist organizations and events in and around Orange County, CA since 2007. She is currently writing A Skeptic's Guide to Islam. You can follow her on Facebook, Twitter, or Google+.

  1. You were at CSI Con? Aarrghhh! I didn’t know that! I would have loved to have met you and to have told you how intelligent and engaging I find your contributions here at SkepChick.

  2. Heina,

There’s also a skeptic’s Qur’an as well, its run by the same people who run by the same people who run the skeptic’s bible website.
