  1. Amanda,

Hopefully we won’t have to deal with a major out break anytime soon made possible by parents forgetting to vaccinate their children.

  2. Unfortunately we are much more likely to deal with outbreaks of disease due to parents deliberately not vaccinating their children than forgetting to vaccinate them.

The people who are in danger of going without necessary vaccinations due to forgetting or not knowing they are due are adults who are not able to get good preventative health care. And simply not realizing that you need re-ups on certain vaccines even as an adult.

My best friend recently had a child and out of all of their friends we were the only ones allowed to see her for a while because my husband and I were the only ones up to date on our TDAP.

On a related note, reading these type of articles is always majorly depressing due to the horrifying comments. I don’t think people are capable of understanding the potential harm of these diseases since they have not been a regular occurrence for so many years. Therefore they are willing to weigh the few children who do develop complications from vaccines as more important than the multitudes of children (and adults) who will be harmed by introducing these diseases back into society. I don’t know what to do about that except take people back in time to show them polio centers, because I really would prefer that people not have to learn this lesson the hard way.

  3. That’s really something with the abduction by the homophobes.
Scary that stuff like that should happen.

Incidently, is that Alternet site as good as it seems to be? This is the first time I’ve visited it.
