ACTION ALERT! Deuce Bigalow Anti-Vax Gigolo on the Radio

It’s been a while since we were charmed by Rob Schneider as Cedric the Belhop in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. But he’s been working… Gigolo-ing… getting awful nipple piercings… making horrible racist TV shows. And being the new face of the anti-vax movement.

Tomorrow, he’s going to be on the KXRK 96.3 in Salt Lake City to promote his new… oh, I honestly don’t know. Who cares? It’s probably more awful than measles. But the measles thing we can at least do something about.

Last time he was on the show, he was promoting something related to his “career” and decided the best way to fill that time was to start yelling about how Big Vax is in bed with Big Brother. Full-on foil hat style.

Reader Atropos provided a clip of the show you can listen to here (or by clicking the poster from his Oscar Winning Drama Hot Chicks which I’ve provided in place of an embedded player.)

 Favorite points/quick and dirty highlights:

  • Polio just runs its course. It infects a few million people, gets bored, then stops infecting people. And eradicates itself. But then comes back again… maybe to avenge it’s eradication. Exactly how evolution works.
  • Vaccines are not tested. Ever. On anyone.  Or anything. A bunch of wild-haired men in lab coats run around making vats of Big Pharma’s HAHAHA WHATEVER patented mix then they stick it into vials and inject it into you then PROFIT!
  • Vaccines are not tested. And don’t work. And we know they don’t work despite not testing. Ever. On anyone. Or anything.
  • THE GOVERNMENT PAYS YOU TO GET AUTISM! Because??? Autistic people are easy to control? It seems like a poor long term government investment.
  • Rob Schneider can read. Why is no one talking about this?

Tomorrow we can expect more of this anti-vax evangelism. And I’m hoping we can do something about this.

If you’re local, tune into X 96 (96.3 FM) tomorrow morning at 7 am local time.
If you’re not near Salt Lake City, listen online at X96.com. 7 am MDT which is 10 am 9 am EDT.
Call in during the show to talk to Mr. Schneider* and confront him with weird ass facts that he’s discussing.  877-602-9696

Oh… and a little site I like Hug Me, I’m Vaccinated.

*So here’s the thing—I wanted to make up some stupid name like “Biggs-Giggs” but then I was like “Yeah, Elyse, you’re blogging about Deuce Bigalow. Do you really need to bring this down a notch? Because I don’t know if there are any notches below this and if you do it, you’re on your fucking own. Not kidding. I’m out. And Biggs-Giggs? Come on. That’s just fucking embarrassing. To us.” And since I need me, I had to concede. Also, I was right.

  1. So the best celebrity they’ve got is Jim Carrey. Frankly, I’d say we’re doing pretty well.

  2. Is this airing on the X96 morning show called “Radio From Hell”? I live in Utah and that show has a history of pissing me off with uninformed nonsense so it wouldn’t surprise me if that is the show he will appear on.

    1. I’m not really sure, actually. I assume so. The clip I posted sounds very morning-zoo-y. But even they were unimpressed with Schneider’s assertions. When then morning zoo thinks you’re a moron…

    2. I’ve always thought Radio From Hell does a pretty good job (though not perfect) on the science/pseudoscience front, as in the clip above. I didn’t hear how it went this morning, though.

  3. I got to the last sentence of this line, and wonder why ANYONE with any common sense would listen to such a person (taken from the so-called “highlights”, OMF non-existent G) “Vaccines are not tested. And don’t work. And we know they don’t work despite not testing.”

Call the men in white coats. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

But it reminds me that teaching the public about simple logic, much less skepticism, is an uphill battle.

    1. That wasn’t an exact quote. But he claims BOTH that they don’t work AND that they’re not ever tested. Well, it can’t be both. We either know from testing or we don’t know because we don’t test.

  4. I had a feeling about this guy.
This seems to be a sad trend.

“So here’s the thing—I wanted to make up some stupid name like “Biggs-Giggs…”

That would’ve sounded a bit much like a reference to the Higgs boson. :)

  5. I’m pretty sure my former owner had that same nipple piercing at one point. It’s a wonderful piercing, even if it is on a man that has terrible ideas and also was in terrible movies.

I’d mention that I liked some of his movies, but I have a policy of not admitting to liking terrible movies that were released prior to the issue date on my state issued MMJ licence.

  6. Damnit, wish I’d seen this sooner! The taint of having to interact with Rob Schneider would have been worth confronting the nonsense.

  7. In case anyone is interested, the audio of the interview is at http://www.spreaker.com/user/4650595/radio_from_hell_oct_5_2012_7_00am

There’s a bit of vaccine talk at 9:00, but the real nonsense begins at about 14:00. In which Schneider lists off a whole host of tired antivax nonsense.

Kudos to the hosts, who roundly and vigorously rebut him, call the doctor he references a quack, and say they’re worried for people who listen to him because antivaxery is nonsense, and repeatedly defer to the scientific community at large, and cite evidence discrediting the autism-vaccine link.

Schneider may have come prepared for a fight, as he’d studied up on some Utah-specific statistics.

Seriously, kudos in particular to Bill Allred, who just does not let up on Schneider’s bullshit.
