Join Me in Seattle This Weekend!

Hello friends! I just got back from a wonderful time in Montreal at the Sex and Secularism conference where I was able to see many friends both old and new. I don’t have much time to rest, though, as Friday night at 7PM I’ll be in Seattle at Piecora’s Pizza on East Madison, delivering a talk for the local atheists and skeptics! It’s only $15 and you get free pizza! You can RSVP on Facebook or on Meetup.com. Huge thanks to the Seattle Atheists for setting this up.

The next morning, it’ll be time for GeekGirlCon!

I’m very excited to be attending my first GeekGirlCon – Surly Amy went last year and she loved it so much that she convinced me to check it out. So, I’ll be on two panels: Misogyny Online at 4:30pm Saturday in Room 205 and Women and Skepticism at 3:30pm Sunday in Room 303.

We’ve also roped in friends like Amanda Marcotte, Jen McCreight, and Desiree Schell to join us, plus other Skepchick Network contributors Heina and Cloe! And of course, I’m sure there will be the requisite cruising around Seattle enjoying the fine array of bars and coffee shops, so be sure to join us!

PS: Not in Seattle? I’ll be on Al Jazeera’s The Stream today at 3:30pm ET talking about Misogyny Online. You can watch online here.

  1. I took my daughter last year and we had a blast. This year I’ll be coming down to catch some panel’s on Saturday afternoon and to see some of my favorite skeptics!

  2. Yay! I can’t go to GeekGirlCon this year, but I can do Piecora’s! I just bought tickets for my husband and I and now we have Friday night plans!

      1. It could’ve done with more of you and David (and the other hangerouters) for sure. I’m not sure if “enjoy” is really the right word, but I did enjoy that broadcast. Quite frank and open about it and not presented in the stupid “two sides” format. If only it was on a network more widely-viewed in the United States.

  3. I *hope* Carol and I can stop by Friday evening. The only problem is that I’m driving back from central WA that afternoon and if traffic is bad I could arrive too late. Welcome back to our corner of the country!

  4. GeekGirlCon sounds like a blast.

I live out in the sticks so no cool cons never come near me.

    *le sigh…*

  5. I’ll be at geek girl con and am looking forward to your panels. If I can get a babysitter for Friday, I’ll come to the pizza event.

  6. I’ll be there! My husband got recruited to work for Amazon, so we finally moved out of the boonies of the deep South. Yay for Civilization and atheist Meetup groups! Hubby and I are both looking forward to it.
