Some Assembly Required

Are you interested in starting a skeptical/atheist/freethought group in your town but you’re not sure how to get started? Or, are you running a group now but need ideas for how to grow and expand? The Skepchick Events crew is starting a new vodcast series that I’m really excited about, with the goal of helping folks start and maintain freethought groups. We’ll be running this as a Google+ Hangout on Air so people can ask questions and interact with us and we’ll also be publishing it on the Skepchick YouTube channel if you miss it. Steven Olsen will be hosting it, along with other members of the Skepchick Events crew. I’ll be on for the first episode, which airs TONIGHT! Details below the fold!

The first episode of Some Assembly Required: Organizing Freethinkers will air tonight July 30th, 9pm Eastern. We’ll be talking about getting a group started and we should have Scott Rhoades of the Lancaster Freethought Society, EllenBeth Wachs of the Humanists of Florida Association, Josh Combs of the Black Hills Freethinkers and Sarah Hargreaves of the Kansas City Atheist Coalition talking about their experience and advice. You can follow along from the Skepchick G+ page, watch the stream on the Skepchick YouTube channel. If you can’t make it, don’t worry, the recording will be available on the YouTube channel when we’re done! We’ll be watching the comments for the Q&A segment so make sure you come by and participate!
