There are many threats to freethought in the world today, and the attacks on free expression have been coming fast and furious in the UK. The right to criticize religion must be protected where it exists and fought for in the places where it doesn’t.

I think what might be good to add to this event is to help setup a network of free proxies and encryption services that activists in oppressed or firewalled nations can use to subvert government blocks or monitoring.

Freedom of expression is one of our most important civil liberties. It should be guarded jealously. To suggest that criticism, even rude and insulting criticism or mockery, of a religion should be outlawed is really alien to me. I can’t even believe there are people who support it.
