  1. Ok, I was reading along with the quake story… and then saw the dude who made the dire prediction died in 1979.

    Really? Predicted something to happen 32 years after his death, that can rarely be predicted 32 minutes in the future?

    My only solace is that it is apparently not just Americans who are hideously ignorant.

      1. Oh no, it actually adds to the humor. You have to look at how they define “animal”: 828.02?Definitions.—In this chapter, and in every law of the state relating to or in any way affecting animals, the word “animal” shall be held to include every living dumb creature;

        Done laughing? Okay, I’ll give you a minute.

        Alright. First of all, having sex with (or beating) a dead horse will still be legal, as it’s not living. As for the “dumb” part, if they mean animals that can’t speak (the clearest definition), then sex with various species of birds which are capable of speech is still A-okay.

        If they mean “dumb” as in “stupid,” then they’ve just banned a ton of humans from procreating. If they mean non-sentient or non-sapient, then there are still some non-human animals that qualify.

        They’ll probably go with the “can’t speak” interpretation, as sex with parrots isn’t particularly popular, but I kind of hope someone will try this defense in court.

      2. Infophile did a pretty decent job of pointing out that the “definition” makes the whole thing worse, not better. They would’ve been far better off simply forbidding “sexual contact between a human and non-human animal [list exceptions].” But that would’ve been acknowledging that we are animals, scientifically, and Republicans hate getting that science stuff on them.

  2. In the first place, I had no idea that bestiality was so rampant in Florida that it required regulatory interference. I mean it must be to take the time and effort to draft this legislation, discuss it and vote on it, right?

    Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy can all rest easier, whew!
