Boston Skeptics’ host Liz Gaston will be here in Chicago at Galway Arms, giving a talk on skepticism and entertainment… and to prove her talk’s not all talk, she’s bringing the entertainment! She’s importing men from as far as Boston and Wisconsin to play a bad ass mofo show complete with vaccine songs you can use as an excuse to dance real close… because you’re all vaccinated and shit. Chicago Skeptics in the Pub presents a double feature focused on science and skepticism in entertainement!
All the way from Boston, Boston Skeptic host Liz Gaston will kick off the event with a talk on just that! How is the way that science is seen altered by the entertainment industry and the media they produce? What are some good and bad examples of valid science in TV and films? In a world that increasingly gets what is considered sound knowledge from sources like CSI, Mythbusters or Oprah, this is a topic that can’t be ignored.
Then, all the way from the heart of Wisconsin and the far side of Boston, Folk Death will tear the house down with some acoustic tongue in cheek tunes! Folk Death has been kicking butt and taking names since 2006, and their songs that parody and comment on religion, unrealistic social standards and generally “WTF” topics have earned them a loyal following. Folk Death can always promise a fun time, so bring your thirst: the more you drink, they more kickass they get!
This is a double-kick to the neck of boredom, and we will have something for everyone!

Oh my gosh…I’m gong to be somewhere awesome while something awesome is happening? That never happens to me. WIN.
Most of Folk Death‘s songs are pretty raw and disturbing, much like the reality they describe. Some of their songs are soft and melodic and disturbing. Vitamin Beer, however, is pure awesome.
