Skepchicks at NECSS!

Guys! Guys! Guys! I am SO EXCITED! We are less than a month away from the North East Conference on Science and Skepticism (NECSS)!  Rebecca, Amy and I are all planning on being there and it’s going to be a blast! I hope we’ll see you there! Exclamation points!!!

A few things that are particularly important for Skepchick readers to note:

  • Rebecca will be participating in the conference itself, as part of the Live Skeptics Guide to the Universe podcast. You won’t want to miss it.
  • Amy will have Surly-Ramics for sale. She’s got lots of new stuff so you can stock up :)
  • We will all be crashing the Drinking Skeptically on Friday night and turning it into Drinking Skepchickally: Skepchicks Take Manhattan II (Electric Boogaloo). If you recall, the original Skepchicks Take Manhattan was quite an event, so you won’t want to miss this one!
  • We’ll be selling these AMAZING new Skepchick RayGun t-shirts. We’ll have women’s and unisex sizes in blue (pictured), pink, creme, and aqua.
  • Amy was actually born in Manhattan and is planning on coming back to claim her rightful position as queen of the city.
  • The conference itself is chock-full of amazing speakers, entertainers and friends of Skepchick, including Eugenie Scott, Phil Plait, George Hrab, John Rennie, Sadie Crabtree and LOTS more. Awesome isn’t a strong enough word and Charlie Sheen has taken over the word ‘winning’ and made it mean ‘crazy’ so I don’t even know what to call it. Just be there!

I hope to see lots of familiar faces and meet some new people too! Please stop and say hello!

  1. Drinking? On a Friday night? In NYC? Hardly a deviation from my normal plans. Perhaps I shall consider alcoholic refreshment, skeptically of course.

  2. I can’t wait! The tees are on their way to me and I’m way excited. There will also be simpler logo tees available.

Everyone should definitely come to the con if they can, but if not then the Drinking Skepchickally will be a damn good time as well.

  3. Ooooooh! I can’t wait! And my awesome t-shirt supply has dwindled in recent years, so I’m glad to have the chance to stock up. *The CS9000 goes pew pew pew*

  4. The CS9000 has a disturbing resemblance to the PU238 Explosive Space Modulator. Do you intend to blow up the Earth, is it obstructs your view of Venus? ;-)

  5. @QuestionAuthority: Family jargon – we call TV/cable remotes “modulators”, after Marvin’s device. I have no idea why. Looking forward to obtaining a t-shirt and some more Surlies.

  6. This just in: I am told we are going to NECSS in NYC this year too, so I look forward to seeing many of you there!

  7. I was in Manhattan, Illinois yesterday. I’ll pretend that was the same as being at NECSS and it will help me stop crying.

  8. Oh man. I don’t know which I would want to attend more this or the camp!

Is it possible to buy a tee without going? I want one but I don’t think I can convince the hubby to drive to NYC for a tee.

  9. I get to go to NECSS! I’ve even budgeted in t shirt purchases into my expenses :D
