Am I the only one who finds most of the new avatars creepy? Masala’s is okay, but the rest range from depressed-looking to psychotic. Jen’s is especially disturbing.
@davew: Yep, it’s just you. I love mine. I like that the eyebrows hint at a “WTF?” reaction, which is highly appropriate for me. I think Jill did a great job.
Gonna have to chime in on Dave’s side here. The new avatars are not particularly appealing. They are creative and interesting, but not my personal faves.
Seven years ago one of my son’s best friends died of meningitis; it’s nasty stuff and really hard to treat if diagnosed too late.

However, the good people of state college probably do not love them as much. Mostly because it means a crazy laughing woman is wandering the streets listening to them.
I just noticed that with the cold weather that I lost my silicone bracelet at some point. Mine worked of course. It didn’t have a cheep hologram it just said “Drew’s Army.” It is for the son of a friend that has aplastic anemia. When people asked about it it would give me a chance to talk about becoming a bone marrow donor.

For some reason the thought of taking pictures of meals made me giggle a lot. I have no idea why. Sounds like a bizzare art project.

The new avatars take a little getting used to. My theory is the creepier and nastier looking the avatar, the nicer the person in real life. I applied that theory when picking out the dumbest-looking picture I could find of Buzz Lightyear to create my evil twin. Hope it works. Even if it doesn’t, I’m sticking with it until the Pixar copyright cops catch up with me.

I like the new avatars, but I also don’t remember being asked to vote on it. An avatar is someone’s personal choice, and unless I find it personally offensive, I don’t really see a reason to comment, except to insult the artist by dissing it.

Um, yeah. This. I think they’re lovely watercolors. They’re just a different style than the previous cartoons. Jill did a great job on them.
Buzz – I loved my neanderthal, too, but every once in a while ya just gots to make a change.
I picked the one I have now cause it reminded me of a mugshot.
And no diss to the artist was meant. I adore many artists, and for even my most admired I like some works better than others. The new avatars aren’t my personal favorites. No slight or criticism of the artist was intended.
