Skepchick Quickies 2.12
- Kevin Trudeau held in contempt of court for email deluge of judge – “Tanned infomercial pitchman Kevin Trudeau has pushed cures for everything from obesity to cancer, but he appears unlikely to have a magic potion to soothe the anger of a federal judge whose e-mail account he flooded with unwanted messages from supporters.”
- Princess Scientist’s Bookclub podcast – A says, “Writer/podcaster/all-around kick-ass gal Mur Lafferty just started a book club podcast with her daughter, who picked “Princess Scientist” as the name because she loves books and science. It’s sweet!”
- Dubai annuls marriage to bearded lady – You never know what’s hiding under that veil. From John.
- Looking for a Valentine’s gift? How about a Hug-E-Gram? Or maybe this very special computer mouse?(I strongly suggest a Tree Lobster card instead.)
- Cute Animal Friday! Birdchick got some great shots of this wild sloth. Elyse wants an R.O.U.S as a pet now. Neuroscience explained with kittehs! And Zapski sent in this funny baby elephant.
I need’s me that mouse… well … maybe my spouse needs that mouse… oh wait, she’s got that stuff built in already…
I need’s me that mouse!
The comments on that Kevin Trudeau article are hurting my brain… so much ignorance of the First Amendment… equating the legislative and judicial branches… For fuck’s sake, isn’t this stuff required to be taught in school curricula?
I object to the title of the article about the capybara. I have owned several rodents and they make very nice pets and are no more disgusting than other animals. I see no reason why a capybara wouldn’t either, although it’s too large for my apartment.
What is the temperament of a capybara?
Obligatory:
A man in a rat suit jumps out at Elyse.
@vbalbert: I agree! I used to have two pet rats. JJ and Spot Butt. They were adorable and I miss them.
@vbalbert: Land piranhas. ;-)
On the R.O.U.S story I only have one thing to say:
Bad man… hit dog… with street!
Sorry can’t find the clip for this… (sigh)
the babby elephant pics are the perfect antidote in making one smile while doing work that you don’t want to be doing this morning.
good stuff, and thanks :)
Come to the Cape May zoo in New Jersey. They have R.O.U.Ss, IIRC you used to be able to pet them. They’re extremely docile. Like an over-sized guinea pig.
@MiddleMan: Sun-Worshipping Dog-Launchers! You face THE TICK!

@MiddleMan: And the clip you were looking for starts at about 9:17 into the episode below:

You’re welcome :)
My husband already wanted a capybara. It’s always one of his favorite animals at our local zoo. I prefer the gibbons.
On a completely unrelated note, I forget whether it was on Skepchick that I read about the poll to determine Barbie’s newest career, but Computer Engineer won!
@Zapski: Thank you, my undead gentleman…
@vbalbert: @Kaboobie:
I can not beleive I saw this on the NBC news site today.

Apparently, the Judge is not familar with the Fist Amemdment. Judge, I recommend that you get alot more fiber in your diet because you are full of it today.
Something about the combination of the “Fist” amendment and dietary fiber conjured up a hilarious image.
