Skepticism

1-Day Skepchicamp Bidding War!!

With Skepchicamp rapidly approaching, funding is needed and appreciated. We’ve hosted eBay auctions and the official FUNdraiser Event is this coming weekend (!!!). If you don’t have your ticket yet, get on it so you can go party with the cool kids and make me jealous.

The eBay auctions have gone pretty well so far, but we know that not everyone is comfortable with bidding in public forums. So here’s your chance to win an autographed Elyse picture with Surly necklace! This will be a 24-hour auction, held in the comments section of this post. Outbid the highest bidder and win yourself some awesome shwag!

[HAWT.]

The starting bid is $20.00, just like in the eBay auctions, but you’ve only got 24 hours to make these things yours!! The picture is available in PG-13 (as shown above) and R (with the cropped bewb included) – just let us know which one you want.

As the auction is finalized tomorrow afternoon, the winner will be contacted either by Elyse or by me (it depends on whether I’ve gone into labor by then) to verify a shipping address and to provide you with the payment method.

Get to bidding, people!! It’s for an awesome cause and frankly is one hell of a prize. Bid below in the comments [serious bids only, please, to avoid confusion] today!!

  1. I am so disappointed in this. After Jen made a great point recently about not using boobs to make a case for women exploring skepticism, you folks go and do this.

  2. @givesgoodemail:

    Yeah, actually I think she mentioned Skepchick pin-up photos specifically:

    However, there is a difference . . . between posing for a sexy Skepchick calendar and having someone suggest you should have a bikini contest during a conference;

    Sorry my Skepchick boobs from my Skepchick calendar photo shoot are ruining Skepchicamp.
    I guess now you won’t be bidding? Or attending camp? Or reading the last two paragraphs of any other posts on any other sites either? Shame.

    (Can we still auction off that date with Hemant?)

  3. @Elyse: How can you expect us to read whole posts when you talk about and show boobies! You lady folk have it so easy. It’s hard being a man and being so easily distracted.

  4. I’m pressing my boobs up against the computer screen now (for skepticism cuz we need $ for these events). It’s hard to type and do this at the same time so please place a bid won’t you.

    @givesgoodemail: I think you were making a point about female objectification and not using sex in skepticism but the name you use on this site reminds me of blow jobs and so I got distracted. I do love Jens blog though. She rocks.

  5. Stop objectifying yourselves and bid on this shit! Skepchicamp isn’t going to run it’s bikini contest without a first-prize-second-prize double dong to give the winners!

  6. Um, yeah…about the bikini contest…well, I know we talked about that prize, but I went ahead and switched it to burqas. I hope that’s okay.
