Sorry for the delay – some scheduling problems this morning!
- South Africa’s former health minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, who gained notoriety for her dogged promotion of lemons, garlic and olive oil to treat AIDS, has died. (From Samuel.)
- It’s being claimed that lesbians in South Africa are being dragged off the street and raped to “correct” them
- I have a feeling at least one of these have been featured here before, but, in any case, here’s Star Wars Science.
- The 10:23 Campaign, launching in early 2010, will work to raise public awareness of homeopathy. Sign up at their site for updates. (From Joseph.)
Two South African links in the same Quickies? That can’t bode well.
(shudders after reading 2nd article) Nope. One commenter nailed in by pointing out how ironic it is that a population that had fought so hard to battle oppression are committing the same sort of abhorrent behavior.
:(
Thanks for the 10:30 link though. Maybe signing up for that is more effective than “correcting” homeopath-ians by beating them upside teh head with a chemistry textbook. I hear that doesn’t work well.
i doggedly promote lemons, garlic and olive oil for angel hair pasta…
@slightlymadscience:
They didn’t fight oppression, they fought imperialism, there’s a difference.
