Googles UFO Logos Update
Just an update to the Google’s Crop Circles post I made here last week:
Today — September 21, which is the birthday of  H.G. Wells’, author of the iconic sci-fi novel War of the Worlds— Google’s logo features a Martian invasion doodle with several alien spacecraft lighting on a small country village.
And when you click the logo, a Google search for H.G. Wells displays, giving credence to the speculation that the UFO-related doodles were leading up to the anniversary of Wells’ birth.
And it seems now Google has confirmed that the series of doodles was indeed in recognition of Wells’ birthday. From Google’s official blog:
“Now, we’re finally acknowledging the reason for the doodles with an official nod to Herbert George, who would be 143 years old today.”
So there you have it.
If that’s what they do for his 143rd birthday, imagine what it’ll be like in 2016.
@Steve:
Clicking the logo will bring him back to life!
143 is the product of the smallest two-digit primes, 11 and 13. Dunno if that’s somehow relevant.
Aww. I was under the impression it was to do with the 20th anniversary for Zero Wing.
While HG Wells is cool.. Zero Wing is far cooler, and geekier.
