Psych Season Four!

Looking for something to watch tonight? Americans can watch the entire first episode of the fourth season of Psych, my favorite show about a guy pretending to be a psychic (there’s more than one). Seriously, I love this show more with every episode.

Here’s the link to Hulu.

And, since there was no Afternoon Inquisition today, feel free to use this as an open thread! Talk about anything but sexism. Ha ha . . .

  1. At the risk of being on-topic, that’s a really fun episode. Psych is filmed in and around Vancouver BC (the Psych storefront is in White Rock), but they work hard to make it look like Santa Barbara. Sometimes with mixed results, like the time they were stomping through a fern-filled northwest coastal forest. But for this episode they took the opportunity to celebrate their home shooting location without trying to make it into someplace else. Great job!

  2. I love Psych! I wasn’t going to watch season 4 yet because I haven’t gotten around to watching all of season 3 but I couldn’t resist.

I loved the not so subtle dig at The Mentalist in this episode. :P

  3. I love psych! never miss an episode, and love to play spot the pinnapple. It’s surprising how much more fun pinnapples are in real life now. BTW there are at least 2 Psych books out, which are pretty good. I also think that psych has some of the best celeb guest stars, “Ally Sheedy” was great last season.

  4. I am a very big fan of Psych. Has it ever been discussed on the SGU? I know The Mentalist has been mentioned, but I would really love for you folks to talk up Psych. I love how Sean’s use of cold reading and other observational techniques illustrate to the viewer how convincing such things can be to someone who either doesn’t know any better or just doesn’t expect to get hoodwinked. One of the best shows on TV right now.

  5. Psych is absolutely my greatest guilty pleasure. It’s incredibly campy and I’d rarely accuse the mysteries of being too clever, but compared to it’s competition (CSI and the rest of the procedural garbage on the airwaves), Psych is a lot of fun. I love Dexter as well.

@6 Anytime a show slams the Mentalist, it immediately earns 100 cocktails.

  6. Curse you Hulu!

On the upside, the first episode of The Mentalist screened here on Monday. It looks like it could be fun to watch.

  7. I like the Mentalist, but it’s just another cop show, whereas Psych is something fresh (or it was four years ago…).

I used to watch Psych all the time, till I cut out a lot of my TV last year, but I think I threw the baby out with the bathwater. I’ve caught up on all the episodes I missed and am eagerly awaiting the new ones!

@ChaoSkeptic: This is the second time I know of that they’ve made a joke about the Mentalist. It cracks me up because they’re right–Psych did the concept first. :P

  8. Psych is great, even though the lead actors think there’s something to “real” psychics. As long as the writers never fall into that trap…

  9. Ah yes, Psych. Must set DVR! This is a show I’ll probably pick up on DVD for the kids to watch when they’re a bit older (along with Monk) as there’s no telling if there will be similarly skeptical shows on in 5 years.

  10. I love this show. I get it on DVD when it comes out. The American Idol (“American Duos”) is a just one of many favorites.

It’s great skeptical thinking show…each character is treated with humor but also with humanity (even “Lassie”). Sorry, but can we get the producer of this show to speak at TAM?

  11. Psych is a winner. Harkening back to the previous post, how about the portrayal of women there? The two main women in the show are neither helpless or dumb. Just the opposite.

  12. @icepick: Except that Detective O’Hara does kind of buy into Shawn’s b.s… But Penny on “The Big Bang Theory” is significantly less big-dumb-blonde now than in the first season. She’s no rocket scientist, sure, but she’s no dummy either.

  13. Can we have some frikkin’ skepticism here, please? “It’s the middle of summer, where are you going to go skiing?”

Why, Canada, of course, land of perpetual ice and snow. That clip made me physically ill.

  14. Hah, thanks for posting that. While only vaguely related to the subject of the blog, I rather enjoyed it. I always figured it was another terrible House-wannabe like “Mental”.
