The moon landing was the first time in my life my parents let me stay up late to watch TV. To translate this into terms other can relate to in my household being allowed to watch extra TV was a policy change as epic as the pope deciding protected sex, gay marriage, and women priests are all just fine with him. My parents thought the event was important though. Rewatching the landing still gives me shivers.
Did anyone else read the first line in that bat article and think they were saying something about e-chocolate? Cuz THAT would be a pretty badass survival mechanism.

The Apollo 11 site is beyond cool. It launched almost exactly 7 months after I was born, so I’ve always looked at the post-moon world as the era of my life.

As a very wee laddie I watched all the space flights, live, even the first man in space flight, on the old black and white TV. I was hooked bad. My dad was able to book a private screening room at the CJOH TV studios in Ottawa, Ontario to watch the moon landing. It was a determining point in my life. Unforgettable. Science made religious. If you know what I mean.

It was an incredible time to live. I wish that I could share the emotions and the feeling in the air…It was one of the few times I can recall feeling like the whole world just stopped and stared at something wonderous…
I’ve been thinking about it overnight, and I’m willing to bet that the school had a TV going for the Apollo 11 launch. I wish I could remember it, though. I do recall trying so hard to stay awake because the first moonwalk was so late at night…It was well after midnight in our time zone. I was only 11 years old…
We are in space heaven here. My 9 y.o. is obsessed and we just plastered a huge picture of Buzz Aldrin on the moon on my son’s wall. It’s amazing. We landed on the fucking moon.
My dad was at summer camp, but he told me about hearing it on the radio… in fact I wrote about it yesterday. I think the big impression it made on my dad led him and then me into our mutual love for Sci Fi.
And omg… the squids are scary… actually the little dog kinda freaks me out as well.
