Announcing a New Skepchick: Surly Amy Roth!

At The Amaz!ng Meeting 7 last weekend, I finally had the chance to meet the awesome lady who has been supplying the Skepchicks with sexy jewelry for the past several years (has it been that long? I suspect it has). Amy has always struck me as the kind of chick to get things done, which happens to be my favorite kind of chick to bring on board. When I met her, I knew immediately that she was even awesomer than I had imagined. She was funny, sweet, smart, and working hard at the Surlyramics/Skepchick table.

When I asked how she might feel about coming on board Skepchick to add some more of the artsy side of critical thinking, she pretty much flipped out in the best way possible and excitedly started telling me about the tons of other ideas she had. I immidiately decided to marry her on stage at TAM 8.

That night was the Skepchick party. In a packed villa, I made the announcement: “I’ve decided to add a new Skepchick to the team, and I haven’t bothered to tell the other Skepchicks.” (Excited murmur) “But I know you’ll all love her. And I’m pretty sure many people here already know who she is, since you’re already wearing her jewelry.” (Screams, cheers, thunderous applause, hugs)

Amy is already hard at work being awesome, developing some of her many ideas. She’ll be posting an intro soon, and then getting down to Skepchick business.

Welcome to the team, Amy!

  1. @Jen:

I think the secret was already out when Rebecca announced it at the villa.

If it wasn’t out at that point, the SQUEEEEEEE was heard across the entire western half of the continent. (I’m loud, if you didn’t notice)

  2. I’m still deaf in my right ear from the jubilant screaming at the announcement! :)

I think it’s a brilliant idea to offer an artistic perspective to skepticism.

Welcome, and it was lovely to meet you and Johnny! xxx
