Philly-area Skeptics: Let’s Do Lunch Saturday!
That’s right, I’ll be in Philly this Saturday along with four fellow Boston Skeptics on a last-minute multi-bus road trip, and you should totally meet up with us! I’m thinking lunch and drinks from 11am until whenever, somewhere in Center City.
We met up at Eulogy before, which was lovely but it’s going to be 80 degrees and sunny this weekend, so help me out: where can we meet this time with some outdoor patio space? Leave suggestions in the comments please and let me know if you’re in!
UPDATE!
Per Box’s suggestion below, let’s try Devil’s Alley. See you there!
WOOO!!! So exciting! I’ll be there, man!
this place is pretty good, they have some outside seating and even some huge open air areas upstairs too.

Center City and Patio Space. Hrm. There are lots of places along the east end of Market, and up and down 2nd street, but they’re mostly pretty small tables. I can’t think of anything specific off the top of my head. Let me ruminate.
I am provisionally in, subject as always to the demands of family.
Holy crap holy crap I want to come!! I have a cookout that day but I’ll see if I can slip away and be there. I’ll ask around about restaurants, since I have a few friends who live in the city.
@boxbrown: I’d never heard of Devil’s Alley, but it looks pretty good. A nice selection of local beers, not too pricey. I’d vote to give it a try.
Yay! I’m actually getting into Philly the night before, and would love a lunchy meetup before heading out to Atlantic City. Can’t wait to meet you fancy skeptics.
Using Yelp with outdoor seating turned on and the $ and $$ options, and “good for groups”, I get a lot of options including:

http://www.radicchio-cafe.com/
http://www.knockphilly.com/

My friends say there’s a lot of open air seating in olde city and rittenhouse sq (though that tends to be more $)
White Dog isn’t that great, I haven’t been to the other places.
@boxbrown I’m rarely in Philly, so I can’t speak for them, was just trying to be semi-helpful and maybe failing :D. If you’ve been to this Devil’s Alley place then I’m all for it. *bounds off to look @ menu*
Nice! Box, Devil’s Alley looks perfect. If no one objects, I can call and see about warning them …
What about dinner? Or evening plans? I’ll drive up to meet you! :-)
I’ll be there as always.
No insults from Scrut? You ok?
Been to Devil’s Alley a few times. Definitely call ahead. It can get be a tight squeeze if you have more than 8 or 9 people.
I am amongst the Boston Skeptics who will be included. I mention this to SWEETEN THE POT for those of you thinking of showing up :-P
Anyway, Devil’s Alley looks scrumptrelescent to me… but I’m easy to please. Anywhere I can get a Coke and sit and chat :)
As long as you are in Philly on a nice day don’t get so intoxicated that you cannot visit the Franklin Fountain neat Penn’s Landing. It is a unique ice-cream establishment, and extremely yummy. You won’t regret it.
Franklin Fountain is one block from where I work and I can attest to its delicious ice-creamery goodnesss.
Me and the boy will be there!
Jealous! Wish I could be there :)
I’ll be there… hopefully. Yay for good beer!
Just let me know where to be and I’ll be there. I was tempted to suggest my house, since we have a garden, but I don’t think it would hold (or my insurance cover) this crowd.
I’d better be able to get a goddamned cheesesteak.
With swiss cheese and dijon mustard and ideally some arugula as well. COWER BEFORE MY ELITISM.
Arugula on a cheesesteak = major gay
I’m totally going to be there! Finally, a skeptic event in Philly. What took you so long!?
I will be on this roadtrip (skeptrip!) as well.
I am going to invite my sister…hopefully this crowd won’t scare her off!
I’ll be there, and amazingly my shy reclusive wife has agreed to come too!
I was going to post and ask how I know how to find you guys, but I figure it’s the large group of nerds cackling about Oprah. :D
@tempestbrewer: I’ll bring the signal flares and semaphore flags.
You missed Drinking Skeptically by a couple of days, but I’ll still bring you DSPhilly party favors.
Hey everyone! If you have trouble finding us, just ask for me. I made the reservation under my full name (Rebecca Watson) and I believe we’ll be upstairs by the windows. I tried to get outdoors but our group is too big, apparently…
We’re all in South Jersey now relaxing. See you tomorrow!
Nice meeting you all! (Though I am notoriously quiet). Will have to hook up with Philly skeptic peeps more often.
PS: My grilled cheese w/bacon and apples was delicious, as was the pitcher of sangria. nom nom nom.
