  1. I appreciate anyone who calls “Bullshit!” on Jenny McCarthy but to pull it off with such panache is worthy of my untmost respect and gratitude. Somehow, just calling JM a tool makes it seem like an opinion. But to sing for 4+ minutes about her being a tool imbues the argument with an aura of unassailable “factness.”
Could it be that what the Skeptical Movement needs is a band?

  2. Very good, I so want to call Jenny the C-word but I don’t know how that would go over on this board. I really hate that woman and I am not that thrilled about her boy friend too.

  3. @xenu: One of the Skepchicks had a post a while back about taking back that word…it went on at some length about how the author didn’t even find it offensive.
So it should be safe to use it here.

    …..You go first tho.

  4. @Electro:

I think you might want to re-read that post before you go getting the other kids in trouble!

Unless you’re trying to get Xenu sent to time-out. (Just be warned, that comes with a spanking.)

But back to the video… Thank you, Brian. That was brilliant.

  5. @SkepLit:

Could it be that what the Skeptical Movement needs is a band?

Worked for the credit industry, á la freecreditreport.com. Just gotta actually spend money and get a catchy jingle/band, otherwise, you end up looking like the lamer version set up by the FTC

At any rate, I freakin’ LOVE this.

    @Elyse:

    I’ll just say she’s a dick, then ;)

  6. Is there an audio-only link for this somewhere? I love the song, but I can’t bring myself to disseminate a video that alternates between painful-to-look-at photos of sick children, and photos that seem to imply that a woman’s opinions aren’t to be respected if she’s sexy.

Don’t get me wrong, Jenny’s opinions aren’t to be respected, but because she’s a dangerous know-nothing (which the song points out effectively), not because of her cleavage (which the video keeps zooming in on).

  7. Oy. Great thoughts in the song but the kids was tough for me to see. :( Jenny sucks.

  8. @dustc:

I disagree. Her cleavage is *exactly* why Jenny McCarthy has the fame she’s currently leveraging. In my opinion, it’s entirely appropriate to highlight that often-forgotten fact.

She has done no research and had no training or really even had the right life experiences to back up any of the dangerous claims she’s made and will continue to make. Yet people fawn on every word. Why is that, exactly?

Jenny has Playboy-caliber boobs. Because of that, she has been allowed a platform (ha!) to spout this nonsense, and was put in a position to meet her largest financier/boyfriend.

The path from Jenny’s breasts to kids with measles is an easy one to see. Almost as clear-cut as the cleavage in question. It’s a ridiculous path to tread, yet that’s exactly what people are doing whether they know it or not.

I don’t know if that was Brian’s intent, but he did a wonderfully unstated job highlighting it.

  9. Bravo.

If Oprah ever starts a video club, maybe this one will make her list.

    Ok … maybe not.

    But bravo anyway.

  10. Oh, that was so hard to watch. I am linking it to my face book profile. I get so fucking angry when I go off on the anti-vaccinationists. To think that we are seeing the re-emergence of 19th century diseases. Measles, are you fucking kidding me. My grandparents worried about measles. And polio what the fuck, polio. That was almost fucking gone. Jenny is a fucking monster.

  11. What’s even scarier, is that the impact is in the well-educated and affluent areas. There was an article recently in the LA Times that talked about this. These idiots think it would be better to sit with their kid in the hospital suffering from measles or mumps rather than give them a shot. Read this article. It’s sickening how stupid people are.
