Just a quick one to say I’ll be at a few events this month – come out and play, Atlantans!
Wednesday, Sept. 10 – Gwinnett: Understanding Secular Truths meetup. We’ll be celebrating the world not ending and discussing the topic of Non-Theistic Morality. More Fun, Challenge and Fulfillment? Details and RSVP on Meetup.
Saturday, Sept. 13- Skeptics in the Pub returns and will feature Tim Farley of What’s the Harm as a speaker.
Saturday, Sept. 27 – Atlanta Science Tavern – dinner and drinks followed by a group discussion about the science of dinosaur evolution led by Emory University’s Dr. Anthony Martin.
See you all there!
Awww shucks. I was hoping that with the world ending, I could skip my credit card payment. ;-)
There will also be a number of lovely ladies at Skeptics in the Pub.
Since witnessing it’s power, I’m officially using the “lovely ladies agrument” whenever applicable.
By “lovely ladies” I do not mean hookers. Just in case there is any confusion.
She’s mad with power, I tell you! Mad!
bwwwhahahaha!
OK, I’m just gonig to ask it once and for all … Why is there a disproportionate number of skeptics in Georgia? … I mean look at the “Upcoming Events” calendar on any given day! … With all due respect, I live in the Phoenix and we have suburbs that are larger than Atlanta (e.g., Mesa), and it’s a desert out here.
Two words: lovely ladies.
Works every time.
@taypro: Maybe I need to move back to the southeast.
Hey, hey, hey!! My *daughter*’s in there! ;) Just kidding… Ain’t it great that we have a big and growing community? As a(n old,) skeptic native Southerner, I certainly never thought I’d see it, but it warms the cockles of my brain!
WHUT!? A heart ain’t got no cockles! ;)
@factsdontmatter:
What daughter? Who is this daughter you speak of? :)
I’ll be at the Pub this weekend! I wish I could go to the Atlanta Science Tavern but I think that’s the weekend of ProgPower. Oh well. Next time :)
@TheSkepticalMale: Because our Governor prays for rain. The need is clearer, here.
@TheSkepticalMale:
There’s a very simple reason for this, actually. I manage the Events calendar and I am subscribed to most of the skeptical event meetup announcements in the area. For other areas, I depend on readers like you to send information to [email protected] so I can add it to the calendar.
You’re not entirely wrong though. I have noticed a large number of skeptical groups showing up in the past few months in Georgia. I’m not sure why but I’m loving it!
ATL folks – see you Saturday!
Unfortunately, I can’t make it this weekend.
No lovely ladies for me, but what else is new?
I think, however, that I’ll be able to make the Atlanta Science Tavern.
