Skepticism

I’m a Skepchick! Get me out of here!

I’m planning to throw together a meet-up in Chicago this weekend.  I miss all my skeptic friends who I haven’t seen all summer!  I’m a little concerned that if we don’t meet up, you’re all going to become Scientologist Chiropractors.

But I wanted to know, what do you guys want to do this weekend?  This month I’m feeling all Power to the People (in other words, I’m all doped up on good drugs and feeling brain numb so I thought I’d let you decide.)  Just fill out the survey some time today or tomorrow morning and I’ll set it up.

  1. Hey, Chicago Skeptics! You know what would be really fun?

    ROADTRIP TO MEMPHIS!

…I figure since I don’t have any (official) Skepchicks here, I would try to lure you this way. We’ve got barbeque!

  2. That’s too bad. After the Great Milwaukee Shoe Photo Scandal, I’m pretty sure your milkshake would bring all the skeptics to the yard.

  3. it’s looking like i won’t be in chicago this weekend after all. this is very, very bad new for me. plus if it doesn’t happen now it can’t happen unitl october. very sad. i’ll know more by tonight. maybe we’ll go up and have to amuse ourselves most of the time, which would involve my wife and me “accidentally” showing up at the meet-up location.

  4. there was an “other” option. But after a request to hold the Chicago meet up in Portland and a request to hold it in Memphis, I think I’ll just split the difference and hold it in Chicago.

  5. I voted, but I didn’t see an option for baby-eating. I sort of figured that falls under the “raucous” umbrella.

  6. I guess I should stop waiting for a Lone Star Meetup any time soon. I don’t know what I was thinking. I mean, it’s not like there’s a Skepchick writer here in Texas to organize such a thing.

  7. Augustus:

You could put one together yourself. SkepGeek put one together in central Illinois for next week just because he felt there was a need for one in his area. It’s easy:

    1. pick a date
    2. pick a place
    3. spread the word
    4. arrive at said place
    5. drink

So easy, even a Texan could do it!

  8. Yeah! I agree it’s been too long since we’ve all gotten together to plot the downfall of our good Christian neighbors. Count me in!

I would love to, but I rarely have time to plan a well thought out comment, let alone a full fledeged party. But, maybe one of these days…

  10. Nooooo! I recently moved to Chicago and have been looking forward to a Skepchick meet-up – but unfortunately I’m away this weekend!

  11. Are there ANY West Coast skeptics, or is it just me and cabernet, and everybody else lives in Texas, Chicago, and points East? I’d have thought the West Coast had lots of them, all those free thinkers out here! (Granted, California might skew things a bit.)
