Attention Houston Area Skeptics!

Skepchick reader, Geek Goddess (GG), is a neighbor of mine here in Houston, and bless her, she’s taken it upon herself to form the Greater Houston Skeptic Society; a group for all Houston area and Texas skeptics.

The group is currently in its infant stages, as GG is feeling out interest on Meetup.com. Go check it out and join if you live in or around Houston.

Also, the first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Ragin’ Cajun restaurant (Richmond Ave. location) at 6:30pm CST.

As this is the kick-off meet-up, there may not be any guest speakers, other than GG and myself and anyone else who wants to say something, but there will be great conversation, awesome Cajun food, buckets and buckets of cold beer, and a surprise or two thrown in as well.

We’re all hoping to grow the group and eventually do some regular pub meets and other fun stuff in the future. So add this to your calendar, and tell all your skeptic friends in Houston and Texas to be there to help us get started.

  1. Sam, thanks so much for posting. In less than 6 hours, I got 9 members (counting thee and me) and two of them said they read about this on Skepchick. One of them had attended TAM6 and then found Skepchick. Keep it on top, in the future we’ll plan a little more in advance!

    Woo-hoo!
