  1. Seriously, who would “own” the moon/Mars? Are the non-space-faring countries going to be all pissed if the countries that participate in space exploration claim all the land? Are we going to auction it off? Are we going to split it per capita? Are we all going to finally get along and share, where the moon is its own “nation” governed by an independent non-Earth-nationalist group? Are there going to be futuristic moon/Mars wars like Total Recall? (Cause that would be awesome!) We need to sort this shit out! ;)

  2. The Christian perspective suggests talking to God about your masturbation “problem” and asking Him what He wants you to do. If I were to ask God this question out loud I would probably take the silence that followed as an awkward one. It’s bad enough that He can see all things (including your junk), but to actually bring it up… Poor Christians, having to get God’s “seal of approval” every time they wish to play a game of pocket billiards or (insert euphemism for female self-pleasuring here, since I can’t think of any myself). How awful.

  3. I am going to do with my daughter what my mother did — NOTHING. I will let her close her door, wash her worn-out underpants when she is in her early teens, knock before entering, and never, never, never give the impression that God doesn’t want us to figure out how our bodies work.

And maybe, on second thought, I will encourage her in that direction. I might have made some different choices if my mother had approached female sexuality a little differently, and in the immortal words of Forrest Gump, “That’s all Ah have to say ’bout that.”

  4. Yeah, any brief moment of shame I don’t remember ever having over masturbating must have been immediately overshadowed by the thoughts of how awesome, easy, and free it was. I haven’t looked back since.

I read something somewhere arguing that masturbating can’t be an “addiction” because it’s not like a drug that you can become resistant to or dependent on. He argued it was a behavioral compulsion, instead. I’m not a psych professional, but it sounds like splitting hairs to me.

I’ve had several days in a row where I haven’t wanted to leave the house or do anything other than sit around and watch tv. I guess getting the same way over masturbation isn’t good, either, but masturbation itself isn’t the real problem.

I did have a catholic friend once admit some shame, and that he was trying to cut back. My reaction was a puzzled, “why?”. I wasn’t much help.
