Science Picnic in Poland

Hello from Vilnius. I saw a little blurb about a “science picnic” in the LOT (Polish Airlines) in-flight magazine on my way to Lithuania and I thought I’d share it here.

14.06 (June 14) Warsaw

What’s a comet made of? What was life like for prehistoric man? Warsaw’s Science Picnic is the largest outdoor science event in Europe. Over 200 teams of scientists and researchers from around the globe will show off their latest discoveries. This year’s motto is “The Language of Science.” American Scientist Prof. Bob Freidhoffer will present the magic of optical illusions as this year’s special guest.

Unfortunately this has already past, but it is an annual event, so if you don’t think you can make TAM next year because you live in Europe, check out the Polish Science Picnic instead!

Here’s more info in Polish and in English.

Donna Druchunas is a freelance technical writer and editor and a knitwear designer. When she's not working, she blogs, studies Lithuanian, reads science and sci-fi books, mouths off on atheist forums, and checks her email every three minutes. (She does that when she's working, too.) Although she loves to chat, she can't keep an IM program open or she'd never get anything else done.

  1. Despite the nickname, I’m American, with 50% Polish ancestry from my mom’s side. I’d love to visit the “Mother land” some day, but I’d like to learn a little more Polish first. I’ll try to line it up with a the Science Picnic, and of course report it here :)

  2. automatthias, A lot of Lithuanians have left for London and Dublin for work as well. Thanks for the link to the video!

Dread Polack, I’m American with 50% Lithuanian ancestry and am here studying Lithuanian in Vilnius. Perhaps you could to go Poland and learn Polish there, instead of trying to learn it before you trip.
