The happs, tonight.

Tonight is the Ig Nobel award ceremony at Harvard! As previously mentioned, I’ll be there (Mezzanine E if you need to find me), and after the show I’m heading to John Harvard’s. I’ll be there, and Evelyn may make an appearance as well provided I can coax her out of her laboratory. I’m saying 9pm, but it might be 9:30 or later, since I’m not positive of the time we’ll leave the show, so if you’re coming, be flexible! Have a drink at the bar and we’ll be there eventually. If you’ve never met me before, I’ll be the chick in the pink glasses, corduroys, and brown shirt with little robots on it. My photo is everywhere, so I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

Here’s the thing: at John Harvard’s, I’d like to talk just a bit about the possibility of starting up a Skeptics in the Pub for Boston. It would be a monthly event at a local pub (I’m guessing probably in Harvard Square, like John Harvard’s, Redline, or Tommy Doyle’s) that I’d like to start asap, say the first week of November. We might have a guest speaker, or it might just start out with a bunch of us meeting up and being all skeptical and stuff. So, if you can’t make it out tonight but you live in the area and want to help, let me know.

If you live in a far away place and can’t make it to the Ig Nobels or the meet-up afterward, don’t fret! There will be photos to make you very jealous.

  1. Ooooh! A Skeptics in the Pub!

I'd love to help out, but, alas, I'm too far away – at the moment.

It's a great idea, Boston would be an ideal place to host one. I'm just suprised there hasn't been one already.

I'm sure Evelyn and your lovely Self have got everything in hand, so all it needs are a few skeptical bodies to fill your location and keep the landlord happy.

  2. I will, indeed, try to make an appearance at John Harvard's tonight. I've been working some long hours to process my summer samples and survive classes, so I've been somewhat missing in action recently. Hope to see some of you tonight, though!
