Stunts to publicise the forthcoming Simpsons film have begun in earnest. A 180ft image of Homer Simpson waving a doughnut aloft has appeared adjacent to the ancient Cerne Abbas giant, the 17th Century chalk fertility symbol in Dorset. Though Homer is drawn in biodegradeable paint, local pagans aren’t amused, saying that the proximity of Homer is disrespectful. Ann Bryn-Evans, joint Wessex district manager for the Pagan Federation adds that they’ll be doing some “rain magic” to wash it away (which surely shouldn’t be necessary given the current weather).

I for one am pro-corny crop circle-esque ads, but would like to see more done as actual crop circles with the crops pushed down (and not using chalk). Eventually when some cornball brings up alien-made crop circles at a party, most people will respond with, “What, you mean like the giant Citibank logo that ‘mysteriously’ appeared last week? Sure, buddy. Aliens.”
I'm all for that.
If anyone wants to pony up to pay my neighbor for his corn, I'm game.

Oh, man. The JREF totally ought to sponsor those original crop circle dudes to travel around the world making giant skepticism-themed ads in fields. Think how awesome that would be!

Could just cut out the middle man, and photoshop some corn circle images, and sell them to the papers claiming they are photos of actual circles.

With people now selling addspace on their foreheads and the like, I'm actually surprised nobody's gone cropcircling yet to promote their product/service. Or maybe they have, and the papers just aren't picking it up because, you know, this time it's obviously not aliens, and even the tinfoil-hatters aren't gullible enough to think it is.

I know there's a beer commercial that was made by using an aerial view of people in coloured shirts forming the shape of a glass, then running over to another group that was forming the shape of a guy.
It looks pretty awesome. But it's not really drawn into the crops.
