Because Skepchicks, Ltd. is pursuing 501(c)(3) status, technically I really should stay away from politics. I’ll merely point out that the new Speaker of the House is Nancy Pelosi, who has vocally supported stem cell research. Oh, and she happens to be the very first woman to hold that position — way to go, Nancy!

Speaking of none of that, the 2007 Skepchick and Skepdude calendars are currently printing, meaning that we now have a finite amount that will most likely sell out soon. Get yours now!

One of the models in the Skepdude Calendar is Professor Richard Wiseman, who along with Simon Singh is bringing Theatre of Science to New York City this weekend! Some tickets are still available, so get ’em now. I’m going to be at the Saturday 3pm show, so let me know if you’re going to be there, too! A large group of skeptics is gathering afterward for food and drinks, and everyone is welcome to join (even if you can’t make it to the show, though we will all mock you for that).

Those of you who want to know more about Professor Wiseman should check out the most recent Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe, wherein we do a bit of Q & A with my favorite psychologist/magician/goofball.

So, does this mean we won't get anymore political commentary from you? Or does it just mean you're going to preface it like that every time?

  2. Perhaps if we approach the topic as a Feminist news piece, about a woman who coincidentally happens to be a politician? Regardless, Go Team Pelosi!

  3. I can't get to the show this weekend– I hafta go pick up my brand new car instead. :(

I wanted to stand in the Faraday Cage. :(

  4. You could always make your own, Rav. ;)

This event sounds awesome. Too bad I'm otherwise engaged doing a play this weekend.
