The Skeptics' Guide Just Got Swifter

Today James Randi announced in his Swift commentary that the JREF will officially be joining with the Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe, the weekly podcast I cohost with Dr. Steven Novella and a panel of skeptical fellows. Randi will deliver a weekly audio rant in the style of his old radio show, which many of us remember fondly as the first true podcast! We’re all rather stoked (as the kids say) about this development, since it means we can deliver even more skeptical goodness to an even bigger audience. Download the latest now, either off the Skeptics’ Guide web site or on iTunes, where you can subscribe and help us push up in the rankings.

The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe is currently the top ranked skeptical podcast on iTunes, and number 15 of all science shows (closing in on #13: Mysterious Universe, which is to science what Cop Rock was to law enforcement). The ratings jump around a lot, but the important thing is that we’re reaching a huge audience. Together with other great podcasts like Naked Scientists, Point of Inquiry, Penn Radio, Skepticality, the Skeptic Tank, and plenty of others, the time has never been better to fill your head with info. Sweet, delicious info.

You sadly won’t hear me on the very next installment of SGttU, since I’ve been incredibly busy this week and unable to sit down for an hour to record with the guys. I’m all packed up and moving to a new apartment — one with an actual ceiling in the bathroom! With the blessing of the Moving Goddess, everything will go as planned and by tomorrow night there will be an official new Skepchick world headquarters. Well, I won’t actually have Internet or phone service, so let’s say that by this time next week there will be an official new Skepchick world headquarters. I hope.

In the name of She the Holy Moving Goddess,

Amen.

  1. Well, good luck on your moving and come back quick…

I'm sad to hear that I won't get to hear you teasing the guys on the next podcast, nor will I hear your cute laff! ;-) Ohh well.. Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say! ;-) You will probably get ever more mariage proposal when you come back! ;-)

I'm also so glad that you guys found a way to get Randi on your show!! The show was already great but now, it's the ultimate skeptic's podcast!!

    Long live to the SGttU!!!

  2. Ah, the podcasts were just not so much fun before Reebeeeka (I can pronounce Eris correctly too) showed up.

Actually, the podcast where Rebecca is the guest (no. 33) is well worth listening to, very funny stuff from the days before our weekly dose of skepchickness!

  3. This is kind of weird: I found spectisism through mr. Karl Pilkinkington. He really is not a sceptic, but his friends do like James Randi.

I listened my first podcast of Monkeynews (http://www.rickygervais.com/) and started to search other science podcasts as well. I found "the Sceptics Guide to the Universe". It felt better than Monkeynews, mode real you know. And it's free and it lasts longer!

We sapiens people have much to gain and loose still. Cheers.
