A funny definition of "liberation."

Extreme animal rights activists make me want to go out into the woods and start kicking wildlife.

I discussed the Animal Liberation Front once before, particularly a story about the morons attempting to “liberate” a bunch of deer who refused to leave their happy farm for the dangers of the wild. I am, as many of you know, not really a meat eating sort of person, but that story really made me chuckle.

The most recent escapades of the ALF have only left me shaking my head. This time the geniuses raided a fish farm, “liberating” 15,000 halibut into the wild, where they promptly died. Their carcasses began washing up on the shores after the stock died of starvation, got caught in seaweed, and/or became food for a lot of really happy otters and seagulls. I wonder if ALF is going to launch a terrorist campaign on the otters now, for cruel treatment of the halibut?

While both of the above stories took place in the UK, kooks struck my area just last night. Investigators believe that a fire set last night at Boston Tropical Fish and Reptile was a deliberate arson. I’m inclined to agree judging by the graffiti shown in the article’s photo, which reads “No more exploitation of animals.” Gee, could it be animal rights terrorists? Who knows?

So, way to go once again, jerks. You caused a two-alarm fire that could have killed a fire fighter. Oh wait, you don’t care about humans, you only care about other animals. Okay, then — you caused a two-alarm fire that actually DID kill several animals. The snakes, lizards, and fish inside were burned alive in their tanks because of your self-righteous crusade. The world is obviously a better place to have you in it.

  1. Until I read that article I probably would have said I couldn't be made to laugh at the death of 15,000 animals.

And these morons made it all possible…

  2. Unbelievable. To have senselessly killed all those poor reptiles and fish! And yet they still claim to be fighting for the animals.

I would love to flay these cretins alive and feed their bits to a goodly congregation of varanidae.

    :(

  3. Remember people,

It's better to carry out aggressive, emotionally-charged acts of violence that make you feel good about yourself than to think your cause through and decide on a rational and beneficial course of action.

    Quicker, too.

  4. Sounds good, Flea.

While we're at it, I think we should be burning crops to fight world hunger! Killing babies to fight abortion! Slaughtering cattle to promote vegetarianism! Cutting down trees to save the rain forests!

    Etc.

  5. This is par for the course. Rememeber then PETA shelters were discovered to have the highest kill rates of any animal shelters? It is a very hypocritical movement. It isn't really about animals. It is about ideology and politics.

  6. I have to agree, TheCzech. If these hypocrites cared so much about animals, we'd see some actual morality behind their actions. But all I see is knee-jerk reaction, indistinguishable from vandalism and terrorism.
