Update Time Again

Good news, everyone! The latest Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe is now out for your enjoyment. Pay no attention to my awful sound quality; I assure you it is no indicator of the quality of what I actually say (which remains at its usual level of near-idiocy).

According to iTunes at the moment of typing, we are ranked number 28 on the top 100 science podcasts OF ALL TIME. I added the “of all time” part as that isn’t included on the iTunes site, but I think it’s implied. Barring any previously undiscovered podcasts from Johannes Kepler (Harmonice Mundi Prolixus Textus?), it’s probably true.

Please note that the above Kepler joke is about as high brow as it gets on this blog. I know, I apologize.

The podcast isn’t the only thing that’s doing well. This site (including this blog as well as the forum and magazine) is now receiving 800 to 1200 unique visitors a day, which is pretty cool. Thanks to those of you who link here and help spread the good word.

As an update on the situation with the upcoming 2007 Skepchick and Skepdude calendars — we have the people who are participating ready to go and we’ll be collecting photos and starting production shortly. Things have been moving slowly lately due mostly to the fact that I am a bit overwhelmed. I hope to have everything streamlined shortly so that we have products ready to go in time for end of year ordering. If anyone out there is interested in helping us eventually market these things, get in touch; particularly if you have some connections at bookstores or other shops that might be interested in carrying such a product.

I plan to be in New York City on Saturday, May 20, to meet up with an ever-growing group of skeptics. If anyone else will be in the area, let me know — the day’s activities will most likely include museums, bars, and a restaurant or two. It promises to be a good time for all. Or most. Well, me at least.

  1. I know at least one record store that will carry the calendars.

Or at least let me put a poster up plugging them.

I guess I'm not the only one who checks the site both from work and at home :p
